Bramalea 50th Anniversary
50 years ago in the township of Chinguacousy the first planned community in Canada began. It was to be a wonderful place for people to live and raise their families. A safe place with green parks, recreation centres, schools and shopping all within walking distance of the new homes.
When I first moved to Bramalea 35years ago, the majority of the people were from Great Britain and Europe. Young couples looking forward to their future and a good place to live and raise their families. Over the past 50 years the faces have changed and Bramalea is a community of people from around the world. But what hasn’t changed is that it is still a great place for people to live and raise their families in harmony with their neighbors, with many opportunities to be involved in the life of the community.
Over the last month as we’ve celebrated in our recreation centres, and theatres, thousands of people have talked about their wonderful memories of growing up in this community. I have heard how much people love this city and would never live anywhere else. Stories and memories have been recorded and shared. I hope you enjoyed the events as much as I have.
Happy 50th Anniversary Bramalea.
